Anita Williams - Saturday, March 05, 2011
This week, I received terrific news from Betty Shipley, who owns Fashion Find in Holly Lake. She has opened second shop at 401 East Broadway.

Fashion Find 2 specializes in Women's and Juniors' quality consignment clothing and accessories, new jewelry and new purses, home decor, Jojoba Butter and Avon products.

Fashionable women with a thrifty side will have a ball checking out the store.

Drop by any time Tuesdays - Fridays, 10 am - 5 pm, or Saturdays from 10 am - 4 pm.

Betty also alerted me to the fact that she offers fashion shows free of charge. The last show raised $1,500 for an organization!

Main Street Progressive Dinner and Shopping Experience - tickets on sale now

Anita Williams - Monday, November 08, 2010

In past years, the Main Street Progressive Dinner has earned a reputation for being a fun and adventurous event! This year's dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 4:30 pm until about 8:30 pm.

The evening promises to be better than ever with appetizers being served in a number of downtown shops from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Expect to find wonderful Christmas gift ideas and you wander from store to store. This part of the event can be enjoyed by anyone, including casual shoppers or those with tickets tot he dinner event.

Those with dinner tickets will continue to one of the three participating restaurants at 6:30 pm.

The restaurants serving dinner include Double C Steakhouse, Brewbaker’s or Cibo Vino, all conveniently located on Main St. or Market St.

Delectable desserts will provided by Creative Cakes by Gina at Winnsboro Center for the Arts, just steps away from the restaurants.

Tickets for this event are now available at:
Copperleaf Day Spa, The Chamber of Commerce and Art & Espresso.
Cost is $30.00 per ticket.

Call Marilyn at Art & Espresso if you have questions - 903-342-3343.

Each restaurant is offering two entrees and, obviously, seating is limited at each venue. Your ticket will be specifically designated for the particular restaurant you select. You can check the menus for each and decided where you'd like to dine.

Tickets normally sell out fast, so it's highly recommended that you get yours now, particularly if you plan to dine with a group of friends or your family.

The leisurely pace of the evening in the historic downtown area decorated for the holidays is a relaxing way to ease into the holiday season.

Cheryl Ford, President of the Main Street Partnership, sent a wrap up of the successful 2nd Annual Progressive Dinner held on February 2, with almost 100 guests in attendance.

The event started with appetizers being served at businesses in the historic Main Street district. Strolling from one store to the another, guests enjoyed a short walking tour of the downtown area.

The 12 participating businesses included the Antiques Mall and Jans Antiques, State Farm, Hornbuckle Flowers & Gift, Flowerland, CopperLeaf Spa, Ladles to Linens, Preston Morton, Bell's Pharmacy, Art and Espresso, Tickled Pink and Redneck Ranch.

Surprise your Valentine with The Great Romance getaway

Anita Williams - Thursday, February 04, 2010

Tim Carmichael is the owner and creative force behind the award-winning B&B, Thee Hubbell House. We were chatting over coffee at Art and Espresso one afternoon this week. He told me about a couple from Paris who recently came to the B&B for their honeymoon.

My first thought was, hey, what a great idea! Paris is not that far away, and what a wonderful way to enjoy a luxury honeymoon without all the expense and hassle of flying to some crowded honeymoon destination.

Tim told me one of the things they requested was rose petals strewn on their bed. I couldn't help but smile. First, because I know Tim and his team will go to great lengths to cater to the wishes of guests. Second, because I realized a romantic getaway is something couples of any age deserve - with or without rose petals.

Which brings me to the special Valentine's package. Tim has teamed with Double C Steakhouse and Crossroads Music Company to create The Great Romance package. It's based on the special package they offer, with extra touches to make a couple's stay truly memorable.

Thee Hubbell House is a gorgeous mansion on a quiet street within walking distance of the historic Main Street district. You will stay in the Master Suite that features a king size brass bed and a charming clawfoot tub. A rose will be waiting for you as well. Dinner at the Double C Steakhouse includes your choice of any entree on the menu. You'll also get tickets to Crossroads.

Rhett Butler is performing on February 13. He is an astonishing musician and dazzles the audience by playing two guitars simultaneously.

It's important to note that The Great Romance package is available throughout the month of February. And you can call Tim and create your own package. Every room at the B&B is a romantic retreat.

The value of the package is $300, but the price is only $215, all taxes included. Call Tim today to make your reservations. 903-342-5629 or toll free, 1-800-227-0639.
