Vote for our Winnsboro Farmer's Market

Anita Williams - Monday, July 04, 2011

Denise Miranda, Manager of the Winnsboro Farmer's Market, alerted
me to something I knew nothing about.

There's a competition sponsored by the American Farmland Trust
among all the local Farmer's Markets in each state.

Denise informed me that we just moved up from 4th place to 3rd.

Fortunately, Winnsboro knows how to pull together.  So I told
Denise that we would tell you about it on the blog.

Voting is thru August, voting closes 8-31-11.  Please click on the
green link and vote today so you don't forget about it.

Please VOTE HERE for Winnsboro.

Thanks!

Two imporant updates on Farmer's Market and the Garage Sale for the Animal Shelter

Anita Williams - Thursday, September 23, 2010
Hi everyone -

Denise Miranda alerted me to some changes you should know about.

This weekend - Sat., September 25 - the Farmer's Market will be at the Depot to be part of the Community Gathering, not the Jack Cross Pavilion at City Park.

Also, next week, the Garage Sale benefit for the Animal Shelter will only be open until NOON ON FRIDAY, Oct. 1. The businesses participating in the Winnsboro Chamber of Commerce Business Expo will be setting up in the auditorium in the afternoon for event on Saturday.

By the way, Denise also sent me advance information about the. . .

Farmer's Market in October:

Squash, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, gourds, pumpkins,
fresh eggs, homemade jams & jellies, preserves,
homemade cheese, Jersey Girls yogurt (Mmmmmm!),
hot sauce, relishes, canned vegetables, many varieties
of peppers, herbs, homemade breads, fried pies.
and a few surprises!

These items are home grown, home made, and raised by our local farmers and gardeners so come early for the best selection and help make this Farmer’s Market a real success!

New early-bird opening time for the Farmer's Market for the summer

Anita Williams - Monday, June 28, 2010
The Farmers' Market is really picking up steam as people come to buy and sell.  But it's also getting very steamy as the summer progresses.

The new opening time is  8 am on Saturday mornings.  The vendors will likely be sold out and gone by 11:00-11:30 at the latest.

Right now you can get fresh produce, dairy products, jams/jellies and more.

Can I tempt you?  Sweet corn, tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, purple hull peas, squash, bell peppers, onions, blueberries and blackberries are currently in season.

The Jack Cross Pavilion at City Park provides plenty of shade, so come on over.

Check out the Winnsboro Farmer's Market site.

May update for the Farmer's Market

Anita Williams - Monday, April 26, 2010
I want to share a message I received from Denise Miranda about the Farmer's Market.  Note the time change, contact number and the produce expected in May. . .

The Farmer's Market has gotten off to a great start even though most of the produce is "still in the ground".  We have had a lot of customers come thru and buying the items that are available.  They are all very excited about what is happening and having a Farmer's Market right here in Winnsboro.

In addition to the cheese, plants, jams & jellies, eggs, and other items that have been featured in April, in May, we expect new potatoes, asparagus, lettuce, Pecans, tomatoes,  & cucumbers. Of course it all depends on the weather.

Check the website for updates each week as you never know what will be there.

New opening time: Every Saturday, 9 am to sell out
New contact number:  903-629-7471
