Autumn Trails is a tradition that celebrates our history, agricultural heritage and good old fashioned family fun. It spans the entire month of October with something different to see and do every weekend.
The Antique Tractor Show & Pull, as well as the Antique Car Rally, are among the most popular events largely due to the variety of vehicles and the parades that showcase them so well. Bring your camcorder or digital camera to catch some great shots.
The always-popular 34th Annual Trades Day and 23rd Annual Swap Meet hold a combined event at City Park for three days.
Plus there's food. Lots of food! There's a sanctioned BBQ Cook-Off one weekend and the Taste of Winnsboro Cook-Out the following weekend during the Trail Ride. I must confess, we do love to cook and eat in Winnsboro!
The annual Trail Ride draws folks with their horses to City Park for a 3-day campout. The event begins with a Welcome parade on Friday afternoon at 4 pm in downtown Winnsboro. Saturday night is the big Barn Dance at the City Auditorium where there's always some serious boot-scootin' music. The Big Woods Trail Ride follows beautiful country back roads outside the city.
Plan your visit early. Check out the Special Packages being offered by Thee Hubbell House, Oaklea Mansion, Hunter's Moon Farmhouse and the lakeside Triple C Guest Ranch. Our friends at Lake Fork Marina also have accommodations for couples and families.
Enjoy one of our many restaurants while you're in town - ranging from American steak and BBQ to Italian, Mexican. . . and good old down-home cookin'. Brewbaker's Pub, Double C Steakhouse and Cibo Vino Italian are all award-winning restaurants in the historic downtown area. Plus, Art & Espresso is a favorite meeting place for breakfast, light lunch, coffee and desserts throughout the day. Gina's Creative Cakes is also a great place to pick up cookies, cakes and pies made from her grandma's recipes.
By the way, with the hot weather we've been having, the leaves are likely to wait a few more weeks to display their most vibrant colors. We will, however, be posting "color alerts" as the leaves change so you will know when to take a drive in Autumn Trails country.
