Community Theater is Thriving
in Wood County

If you enjoy going to plays and musicals, acting, building
sets and the camaraderie of "theater people," Wood County
is a welcome surprise.

In Winnsboro, the Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA)
has put on a variety of shows over the years, including
original plays and musicals, shows for and by local
children and Christmas plays.


In Quitman, the players at the Quitman Community
Theatre were voted the "Best Small Theatre Company"
in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The company's actors
have also won "Best of" awards.

A little further south on Highway 37, the Lake Country
Playhouse makes its home in Mineola.

These organizations are always looking for new
talent, including those who act, build sets, provide
music or help in other ways to make the productions
successful.
